Clements Engineering supplying across the world

In the 30 years since Clements have been providing propellers and stern gear to customers their products have been used throughout the world for a wide variety of vessels.  A number of recent orders from Thailand based builder AusThai Marine is no exception.

Clements Engineering has supplied 4 boat sets to the Pattaya Company, who have recently launched a new range of catamarans at a local boat show. The vessels are 15m in length and powered by twin Yanmar 6LY2-STP diesel engines running at 440HP.  With a maximum of 25knots at 3300 RPM, the vessel can accommodate 75 passengers in the lower deck and 15 passengers on the flybridge seating area. The first vessel, destined for Cambodia was built to Category B (offshore) ISO small craft international standards.

Ray Ringuet, AusThai Managing Director commented that he was very impressed with the extensive sea trials and the vessel has performed very well. He said that he has previously used stern gear from a number of countries, including Turkey, China and India but has found the Clements products to be of far superior quality. In tests running two identical boats, one fitted with Clements stern gear and one with sterngear from another source, the boat with Clements sterngear achieved a 10 % better fuel economy and an extra two knots in top speed. Mr Ringuet said this is due to the superior design and quality of the propellers.

The boat sets for AusThai consisted of Gearbox coupling, Flexible coupling, Shafts, GRP Sterntube, Shaft seal, GRP rudder tube, Fabricated rudder and tiller assembly and 5 bladed propellers in NiAlBr material. Clements Engineering design and manufacture all their products in their Bedfordshire facility in the UK and as in the case of AusThai, they work with the design team ensuring the products are best designed for the application they are intended for.
